The short answer
Start with College Board's eight full-length practice tests in Bluebook: they are free and written by the makers of the SAT. Between tests, College Board's Student Question Bank and Official SAT Prep on Khan Academy give free practice by skill. Google's Gemini app adds free full-length tests built on content from education companies such as The Princeton Review. When a course needs more full-length tests than College Board's eight, SAT prep platforms write their own and put every student's results in front of the tutor; none of them is official.
We make PrepMora, one of the SAT prep platforms, so we describe the free tools from their makers' own pages and mark our part as ours. We do not compare the quality of anyone's tests with College Board's. Every fact was checked on 24 October 2026; the sources are at the end of the page.

College Board: Bluebook and the Student Question Bank
Bluebook, the app the digital SAT is taken in, has eight full-length SAT practice tests, numbered 4 to 11, and College Board offers the same tests as printable PDFs (College Board's printable practice tests). Each is a complete test of 98 questions in 2 hours 14 minutes, and all of them are free. College Board recommends taking at least one in a single sitting, as on test day (how to use Bluebook practice tests). Why other sources give other totals is on our page about how many SAT practice tests there are.
After a test, the student's scores appear in My Practice. Score Details shows every question, the answer given and the correct answer, and a Get Tailored Practice button builds a question set for the skills that need work. Those questions come from College Board's Student Question Bank, which holds thousands of SAT and PSAT questions written by the makers of the tests; students can also filter it by section or content domain and build their own quizzes (Student Question Bank).
Official SAT Prep on Khan Academy
College Board calls it Official SAT Prep on Khan Academy: the course is developed in partnership with College Board, it makes a study plan for each student, and it is free (College Board on Khan Academy practice). It covers every skill on the test at three levels, Foundations, Medium and Advanced, with short video walk-throughs of example questions, most around five minutes long, plus skill quizzes, unit tests and a Course Challenge that covers all the skills on the test. After a Bluebook practice test, a Practice on Khan Academy link opens a walk-through of every question on that test, each ending with a link to a lesson on the skill it tests.
Gemini's free practice tests
Since January 2026, Google's Gemini app has offered full-length, on-demand SAT practice tests at no cost; a student starts one by asking Gemini for a practice SAT test (Google's announcement). Google says the tests are built on vetted content from education companies such as The Princeton Review. After a test, Gemini gives feedback on where the student did well and what to study, and explains answers when the student asks (Google's how-to). Google's posts do not describe them as College Board tests, give a number of tests, or describe the timing or the calculator, so check those against Bluebook before relying on them.
What a tutoring center needs on top
When a student practises alone, the results stay with that student: Bluebook scores and Score Details in My Practice, and practice on Khan Academy or in Gemini in the student's own account. A center that runs SAT classes has needs of its own, and SAT prep platforms are built for them:
- More fresh full-length tests. At one test every two weeks, a 12-week course uses six; a second sitting on top of it brings the total to nine, one more than College Board's eight.
- Every student's results in one place. Each student's scores and skill results in one panel for the tutor.
- Homework by skill. Practice set for a class or one student, on the skills their tests show.
- Updates for parents. Something to send families that is built from the student's own work.
- Your own brand. On a white-label platform, students see the center's name and logo.
Platforms differ on every one of these. Our list of twelve SAT platforms for tutoring centers sets them side by side, from each company's own website, and the 12-point checklist says how to test each point in a demo. Whichever platform a center uses, students should still take College Board's tests.
PrepMora
PrepMora has 40 full-length practice tests written to the digital SAT's specification, each 98 questions in the Bluebook format with the timing of the real test, built-in Desmos in Math and an explanation for every question. They are not College Board tests, and students should take College Board's eight as well. Results land in a mentor panel, where tutors give practice by skill, domain and difficulty to a class or one student, and every two weeks the mentor gets a parent report draft in one of eight languages to edit and send. It runs under the center's own logo and colour, can run on the center's own web address, and is sold to tutoring centers and tutors, not to students on their own. The practice tests page has the details.
